Vienna Insurance Group AG (VIG), the largest insurance group in Central and Eastern Europe, has established Cyber Risk Solutions GmbH (CyRiSo), a new cyber security company targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The firm aims to provide comprehensive support to reduce cyber risks and to prevent and resolve damage from cyber attacks.
“Cyber attacks have become a key issue for businesses and represent one of the greatest challenges of our time,” said Christoph Rath, Deputy Member of the VIG Managing Board. “As the leading insurer in corporate business, we are committed to providing comprehensive solutions and expertise to customers in the region.”
CyRiSo offers various services, including risk assessment, technical and organizational security checks, and incident management. The company’s portfolio also covers crisis management and ongoing information security and data protection. Its services are available to VIG’s existing and new customers, its distribution partners, and third parties.
Industry Veterans
Industry veterans Christiana Bruckner and Michael Ganzwohl will manage the new company. Ms. Bruckner brings years of experience in sales and business development. She helped Austrian and international companies develop cybersecurity consulting, services, and software. Mr. Ganzwohl has extensive experience in cyber security in Austria. He previously served as CEO for the Asia Pacific region of an international cyber security firm.
A key focus for CyRiSo is combating ransomware attacks. These have become increasingly prevalent and can encrypt IT infrastructures, leading to high ransom payments. “If a cyber attack occurs despite preventative measures, CyRiSo is on hand to resolve the incident as quickly as possible,” Ms. Bruckner and Mr. Ganzwohl said in a joint statement.
