USQRisk, the international managing general agent (MGA) specializing in alternative risk transfer solutions, has unveiled Pera. A managing general agent focused on providing cyber and blended cyber and technology E&O insurance to large U.S. domiciled corporate risks. Pera, a division of Desq, USQRisk’s managing general agent accelerator/incubator, marks the program’s inaugural entry into the market. The newly launched MGA will be under the leadership of Jeffrey Batt, its Chief Underwriting Officer.
Pera’s emergence is a response to the dynamic and continually evolving cyber risk landscape. Jeffrey Batt expressed enthusiasm over the support from Chaucer in augmenting their specialized capacity. “Cyber is a dynamic risk that continues to surprise and challenge even the most prepared entities, and we are excited to have Chaucer’s support in providing additional specialized capacity,” said Batt. He credited Desq for playing a pivotal role in reaching this milestone. Batt anticipates collaboration with the experts at USQRisk and Desq as they introduce innovative cyber products and solutions.
Bringing a background in national security and cybersecurity to his role, Jeffrey Batt, also the Head of Cyber at Pera, has held significant cyber leadership positions at M&T Bank, AmTrust Financial Services, and Trium Cyber U.S. Services. His previous roles include serving as a senior client advisor at Marsh and an associate deputy general counsel at the U.S. Department of Defense.
Pera is set to develop insurance solutions for the U.S. market, working closely with Chaucer Group, a London-based international specialty insurance and reinsurance group known for its expertise in cyber-related risks.
Piers Tuggey, Head of Cyber at Chaucer, recognized the significance of Pera’s launch in an increasingly complex cyber risk environment. “The launch of Pera is an exciting opportunity for the U.S. market, especially as cyber risks become increasingly complex and the need for specialized solutions increases,” said Piers Tuggey, Head of Cyber at Chaucer.
