U.S. employers urgently need cybersecurity talent, while over 4 million post-9/11 veterans seek meaningful careers. This new partnership invites both groups to connect and thrive.
INITIATIVE LINKS TRAINING, COACHING, AND EMPLOYERS
SkillStorm and YUPRO Placement announced a program that offers veterans no-cost career services and direct access to employers hiring for cybersecurity and AWS cloud roles.
SkillStorm will provide online, instructor-led training aligned to industry certifications. The release cited tracks tied to CompTIA and AWS, plus Microsoft and Salesforce options. Veterans who complete training move into YUPRO Placement’s career development services.
THE PROGRAM DESIGN
YUPRO Placement CEO Michelle Sims said the program starts by translating military experience into job-ready skills. “Our team helps veterans translate their military experience into the technical and durable skills that connect with employers who value their service,” she said. Sims said support continues after hiring through coaching during job assignments.
SkillStorm COO Joe Mitchell described the partnership as a response to a common transition gap. “Too many veterans leave the service ready to work but without a clear on-ramp into the digital economy,” he said. Mitchell said veterans often bring “mission discipline, system thinking, and the ability to learn fast—traits that are critical in cybersecurity.”

MARKET PRESSURE DRIVES CYBER AND CLOUD DEMAND
The release cited more than 750,000 cybersecurity job openings in the U.S. It also cited that cloud computing roles are expected to grow 23% annually through 2030. The companies said veterans can face barriers, including limited civilian credentials and weaker employer networks. They said the partnership aims to reduce those barriers through certification-aligned training and employer access.
SkillStorm said it has trained and supported more than 500 veterans pursuing their first tech job.

Veterans can enroll through SkillStorm’s GI Bill pathways page. Employers can connect with YUPRO Placement via its employer portal to access skill-first veteran candidates.
