Coalition Unveils Risky Tech Ranking
Cyber insurer Coalition has released its first Risky Tech Ranking, identifying technology providers whose products were most vulnerable to cyber threats. The ranking is designed to help companies make safer technology choices, reduce vendor risk, and improve their cybersecurity resilience.
Ranking Methodology
Coalition used public data and its proprietary Coalition Exploit Scoring System (ESS) to evaluate vendors. The ranking multiplies the number of vulnerabilities by their average ESS score.

Top 10 Risky Vendors – Q1 2025
- Microsoft (98.3)
- Google (32.2)
- Apple (30.9)
- Linux (30.3)
- Adobe (25.5)
- Cisco (24.7)
- Oracle (23.6)
- Apache (21.5)
- D-Link (20.6)
- Ivanti (20.2)
Business Impact and Purpose
Coalition says the ranking will educate companies and pressure vendors to improve security, improving overall cybersecurity. Tiago Henriques, Chief Underwriting Officer at Coalition, stated, “The severity of today’s cyber landscape warrants greater visibility across technology providers selling to businesses globally.”
He added that the list of vendors aims to help companies avoid products that may increase cyber exposure. “We hope this not only provides businesses worldwide with greater peace of mind when making enterprise purchasing decisions, but also contributes to a safer digital environment for everyone,” Henriques said.
Updated Scoring System Released
The company also introduced an updated version of its Coalition ESS, prioritizing vulnerabilities using real-time data. The system helps organizations patch the most critical flaws first.
