NordVPN has expanded its cybersecurity offerings by introducing cyber protection insurance benefits for its customers in the United States and United Kingdom. The protection benefits are part of the NordVPN Ultimate bundle subscription plan. This includes NordVPN’s virtual private service, NordPass password manager, and other advanced features. The insurance-backed benefits aim to address the growing threat of cyberattacks and provide financial support to victims.
Identity theft victims in the United States can receive up to $1 million to cover recovery expenses, such as legal fees, credit bureau reports, document replacement, mental health counseling, and more. Additionally, victims will have access to a licensed identity theft investigator for professional assistance in correcting credit history or identity records. Cyber extortion protection benefits in the U.S. include up to $100,000 for professional assistance in responding to threats to delete or release information.
Cyber-Savvy
The move comes in response to the increasing sophistication of cybercriminal tactics, as even cyber-savvy users fall victim to scams. NordVPN aims to complement its technical solutions by bridging the cyber protection gap through insurance-backed benefits. The company acknowledges that human error remains a significant factor in cybersecurity.
According to NordVPN’s research, at least five million people have experienced online identity theft. Hackers then sell the stolen information on bot markets. NordVPN is exploring the possibility of extending cyber insurance benefits to other markets, beyond the US and UK.
