Markel Group Inc. has announced the appointment of April Tam as Senior Underwriter for Professional Financial Risk (PFR) & Cyber and Head of Financial Institutions in Asia, effective immediately. This strategic move aims to bolster Markel’s leadership in the PFR sector and enhance its financial institutions offerings across the region.
In her new role, Tam will play a crucial part in advancing Markel’s Financial Institutions proposition. She will collaborate closely with the regional underwriting team to drive profitable growth and ensure the scalability and diversification of its PFR book. She will also focus on building strong relationships with insurance brokers, clients, and partners throughout Asia.
Tam brings over 12 years of experience in financial line underwriting, recently serving as financial institution practice leader for Allianz Commercial in Asia. Her prior expertise at Zurich Insurance Group further solidifies her qualifications for this pivotal position.
Based in Hong Kong, Tam will report to Kevin Leung, Chief Underwriting Officer for Asia Pacific. Leung expressed his enthusiasm about Tam’s appointment: “We are excited to welcome April to our team. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of Financial Lines underwriting will be instrumental in enhancing our PFR offerings.
