New Milan Teams Target Italian Demand
Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, launched two new divisions in Italy. The carrier opened an Energy & Construction unit and a Cyber unit. LSM based both teams in Milan. The move targets rising regional demand for specialty coverage and advisory support. LSM also aims to increase cross-selling across business lines.
General Manager Antonio Sacchi said, “The launch of the energy and construction and cyber divisions in Italy, mark an important milestone in the development of our activities in this strategic market. This local presence will allow us to strengthen our proximity to customers and partners and to support their complex projects even more effectively.
Cyber Unit Expands Cyber Insurance Capacity
LSM hired Mauro Marongiu as Senior Underwriter to lead the Cyber division in Italy. He will develop cyber risk solutions for non-physical losses. His portfolio includes cyber perils and technology, and media errors and omissions. The launch adds fresh capacity for cyber insurance buyers in the Italian market.
“Alessandro and Mauro’s strong local expertise will help develop our capabilities in structuring our energy, construction and cyber presence in the Italian market,” said Sacchi.
Marongiu held cyber underwriting roles at MGAs, most recently at RiskPoint. He also brings six years of experience as a cyber specialist in Italy. He reports to Sacchi and Oliver Delvos, Head of Cyber and Tech, Europe. The unit targets demand for cyber risk coverage, cyber liability insurance, and data breach insurance.
Energy And Construction Unit Adds Local Leadership
LSM hired Alessandro Tomassi as Senior Underwriter for Energy & Construction in Italy. He will underwrite risks across oil and gas, petrochemicals, power generation, and renewables. He will also support major construction projects and annual contractor programs. Tomassi reports to Sacchi and to European construction and energy leaders.
Tomassi brings nearly 18 years of underwriting experience from Allianz. His role focuses on building local capacity and pricing discipline for complex projects.
