Envelop Risk has announced two executive promotions Graeme Bell to Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Simon Welton to Executive Vice President (EVP) – Underwriting Performance and Strategic Partnerships.
Graeme Bell Appointed as COO
Bell joined Envelop Risk as a non-executive director in 2020. He transitioned to an executive role as Group Chief Legal Officer in 2021, coinciding with Envelop’s $130 million Series B funding round from SoftBank. He also served as interim COO since 2023.
As COO, Bell will oversee operations, working with the executive team to improve efficiency and support company growth. He remains Chief Legal Officer and continues as a director for Envelop’s US broker, DataStream Cyber Insurance, and Bermuda-based reinsurer, Augmented Re. Before Envelop Risk, Bell was a corporate M&A partner at several US and UK law firms.
Simon Welton to Focus on Underwriting Performance
Welton, a reinsurance executive with over 30 years of experience, was previously EVP – Insurance at Envelop. He joined in 2022 after a decade at Swiss Re, where he was Market Head P&C UK and Ireland.
In his new role, Welton will collaborate with Envelop Underwriting CEO Dom Peters to enhance underwriting performance and product development. He will also support strategic partnerships and the recently launched Envelop Risk Solutions business.
Leadership Expansion to Support Growth
Group CEO Jonathan Spry stated that these executive promotions reinforce the company’s leadership team.
“This recognizes Graeme and Simon’s growing importance to our business,” Spry said. “Both bring expertise that strengthens our ability to support partners in managing cyber risks sustainably.”
He added that the cyber market is evolving, with protection gaps beginning to narrow, and these appointments will help further close those gaps.
