Business travelers are often advised to keep devices close to enhance cybersecurity, avoid public Wi-Fi, and never transmit sensitive information without encryption. Despite these warnings, a recent survey by World Travel Protection found that 64% of travelers do not take necessary precautions to secure their data while abroad, leaving them vulnerable to cybercriminals and state-sponsored hackers.
In response to these risks, BOXX Insurance has partnered with World Travel Protection to launch Cyber Assist, a new tool designed to protect business travelers from online threats. With cybercrime on the rise, business travelers—often carrying sensitive company data on laptops and mobile devices—are frequent targets for cyberattacks, especially when using unsecured networks in airports, hotels, and public spaces.
Cyber Assist offers travelers real-time monitoring of potential cyber risks and provides alerts about digital breaches. The platform also helps mitigate identity theft by scanning the dark web for stolen credentials. Cyber Assist offers step-by-step instructions to recover and secure compromised accounts and includes cybersecurity training for users if a breach occurs.
“High-Value Targets”
Vishal Kundi, CEO of BOXX Insurance, stressed the importance of cybersecurity tools for business travelers. “In today’s increasingly interconnected world, cyberattacks and data breaches are alarmingly common and can significantly disrupt a company’s operations, reputation, and financial stability. Business travelers are high-value targets for criminals, with many carrying sensitive data and relying heavily on mobile devices in environments with unsecured networks,” Kundi said. “Cyber Assist addresses these risks by leveraging advanced cyber-surveillance technology to predict and prevent threats.”
Dominic Steptoe, Chief Product Officer at BOXX Insurance, discussed the technology behind Cyber Assist. “Cyber Assist is powered by our proprietary cyber-surveillance technology, providing a combination of cyber threat prediction and prevention,” Steptoe noted. “Our partnership with World Travel Protection has enabled us to create a cyber solution for business travelers, so they can stay securely connected to colleagues and loved ones.”
“Compromised Data”
Adrian Leach, CEO of World Travel Protection, highlighted the need for comprehensive protection amid rising threats. “The increasing threat of cyberattacks on travelers means that robust cybersecurity measures are no longer optional; they are essential. Our partnership with BOXX allows us to offer a proactive solution to ensure travelers can remain connected securely while mitigating the growing risks of compromised data,” Leach said.
The risks posed by cyber threats during travel are significant. Unsecured Wi-Fi, phishing scams, and compromised Bluetooth connections are becoming more common, yet many travelers fail to adopt basic cybersecurity measures. Cyber Assist aims to address these gaps by providing digital threat monitoring, educational resources, and personalized assistance, helping business travelers stay ahead of cybercriminals.
The partnership between BOXX Insurance and World Travel Protection offers a new option for enhancing cybersecurity for global business travelers. As cyber threats continue to evolve, solutions like Cyber Assist aim to improve security and resilience for professionals on the move.
