Commvault expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud to enhance cyber resilience for cloud workloads. Enterprises face tighter recovery windows, rising regulatory demands, and more advanced ransomware and insider threats. SentinelOne notes 80% of companies report more frequent cloud attacks. Industry data shows an average downtime of 24 days after ransomware, creating costly operational gaps.
“Organizations are under immense pressure to outpace cyberattacks that increasingly target backup environments,” said Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Chief Products Officer, Commvault. “By expanding our collaboration with Google Cloud, we’re giving enterprises the confidence that their critical data and cloud applications are protected, isolated, and recoverable.”
Air-Gapped Immutable Backups And Compliance Archiving
Commvault introduced Air Gap Protect for Google Cloud users, enabling encrypted, immutable backups in an isolated cloud location. This isolates backup data from production systems, minimizing ransomware and insider risk. Commvault also launched a compliance-ready Archive Tier for regulatory retention that optimizes storage use and cost management.
“Cyber resilience is a critical requirement for enterprises operating in the cloud today,” said Asad Khan, Senior Director, Product Management, Storage, Google Cloud. “With Commvault’s Air Gap Protect, Cloud Rewind, and enhanced data protection for Google Workspace, customers gain additional defenses against ransomware and the ability to rapidly restore applications and data running on Google Cloud.”
Faster Application Recovery With Cloud Rewind
Commvault Cloud Rewind is available to Google Cloud customers through Google Cloud Marketplace. The tool enables fast, automated rebuilds of applications after ransomware or deployment errors. It manages application dependencies that can delay recovery. The company presents it as a practical way to quickly restore operations and support cyber-resilience for essential services.
