News Amid 2024 Threat Surge

France spent 2024 on alert as Paris readied the Games and attackers gathered. France’s National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI) logged 4,386 cybersecurity events. That represents a 15% over 2023. Intrusions targeted critical infrastructure and Olympics-linked systems drew intensified strikes. The year’s story was “pression” (pressure), a steady stream of incidents that stretched defenses and underscored the need for protection. A year removed from the Paris Olympics, cyber insurance provider Coalition has launched Active Cyber Insurance in France. The rollout uses Coalition Insurance Solutions GmbH. Allianz Commercial, via AGCS, supplies capacity under a multi-year agreement.

“As global cyber threats grow, French businesses—small businesses especially—need an experienced and innovative insurance provider that not only helps mitigate financial losses, but also equips them with the cybersecurity tools necessary to better understand their risks,” Tine Simonsen, Coalition’s Head of Insurance, Continental Europe, noted in a press release annoucing the news.

Coverage and Eligibility

French companies with up to €1 billion in revenue can buy primary coverage. The launch expands access to cyber risk insurance for mid-market and larger firms.

Risk Management and Services

Coalition pairs cyber liability insurance with security services. Policyholders use Coalition Control for attack-surface monitoring and vulnerability alerts. Customers access security awareness training and managed detection and response. Claims and incident response teams operate 24/7.

Broker Access and Market Footprint

Brokers can obtain quotes in minutes through Coalition’s online Broker Platform. Coalition says it supports more than 100,000 organizations. It reports partnerships with over 65,000 brokers worldwide.

Leadership Appointments

Coalition named Benjamin Barès as Head of Business Development for France. The company appointed Frédéric Gatte Director of Underwriting.

“Our ambition in France—as around the globe—is to establish long-lasting relationships with brokers and agencies, supported by extensive training materials and broker-specific resources, as well as a streamlined quoting process that enables brokers to obtain quotes within minutes via our online Broker Platform,” said Barès.

Tom Paparella becomes Production Underwriter, transferring from the U.S. team. Coalition plans to add staff across several French cities.
