Remember when a neighborhood watch or a trusty home alarm system was enough to keep your home safe? Today, BOXX Insurance Inc. and Zurich Insurance Group in Switzerland have launched the digital equivalent: the Zurich Cyber Security App. This new app acts like a vigilant neighbor, keeping a watchful eye on your online world and providing digital protection for individuals and families.
The app, developed by BOXX Insurance in collaboration with Zurich, includes features such as identity protection, a secure VPN, and emergency cyber assistance. It is available in English, German, French, and Italian.
Vishal Kundi, CEO of BOXX Insurance, emphasized the app’s goal of delivering essential cybersecurity tools directly to users’ devices. “Smartphones have become the fastest-selling gadgets in history. They have penetrated every aspect of daily life. The average person picks their phone up to 100 times a day so if we want to make their world a digitally safer place, we have to ensure their phone and their usage is better secured,” Kundi stated.
René Harlacher, Chief Underwriting Officer of Zurich Insurance in Switzerland, noted the importance of addressing personal cybersecurity threats. “Extensive research conducted by Zurich Insurance in Switzerland showed that many are not aware of online dangers and that around a quarter have already been victims of a cyber-attack. In addition, customers are simply overwhelmed with the range of cyber products,” Harlacher said.
Personal Cybersecurity App includes:
- Identity Protection: Notifies users if their data appears on the dark web and offers advice on reducing identity theft risks.
- Secure VPN: Ensures a secure and encrypted internet connection.
- Secure WiFi: Scans networks for threats and detects security issues.
- Safe Browsing: Alerts users to harmful websites and links.
- Device Protection: Enhances security settings and protects against viruses and malware, especially on Android devices.
- Password Manager: Manages and creates strong passwords.
- Edutainment: Provides educational content on cybersecurity.
- Emergency Support: Offers expert assistance in cyber emergencies and other IT issues.
Zurich Insurance has worked with BOXX Insurance since 2021, participating in its Series A and B funding rounds. This new app extends their collaboration to provide enhanced digital safety for Swiss customers.
