In cybersecurity, where TLAs (three-letter acronyms) and technical lingo dominate, clear communication often becomes a casualty. AXA XL’s latest initiative aims to address that confusion—because, as Mark Twain once said, “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter—it’s the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.” And when it comes to cybersecurity threats, misunderstanding can be very costly.
“94% of executives recognize the growing importance of cybersecurity, but communication gaps still persist.”

AXA XL Introduces ‘Secure Your Seat’ Program
AXA XL announced a new training program in collaboration with FTI Consulting and Norton Rose Fulbright. Named “Secure Your Seat,” it is tailored to help Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and cybersecurity leaders explain risks clearly to boards and C-suites.
The initiative provides one-hour complimentary sessions to AXA XL’s cyber insurance clients. Additional training is available at discounted rates.
Addressing Executive Comprehension Gaps
Despite growing attention to cybersecurity, business executives often struggle to grasp its complexities. As Meredith Griffanti of FTI Consulting noted, “94% of executives recognize the growing importance of cybersecurity, but communication gaps still persist.”
She emphasized that the training “helps the cybersecurity leader ‘secure their seat’ in the boardroom or in a director’s chair themselves.”
Compliance and Clarity Are Priorities
Chris Cwalina from Norton Rose Fulbright said the training reviews participants’ board presentations and offers practical advice. “We provide feedback on metrics and a summary of key regulatory changes affecting CISOs,” he stated.

A Move Toward Clarity in Cyber Defense
This reflects a growing industry need to translate tech-heavy reporting into decision-ready language.
Gwenn Cujdik of AXA XL underlined the strategy: “Executives need to grasp the cybersecurity landscape to make decisions, especially during crises.” Aligning tech insights with business goals is crucial, she added.
A Modern Take on an Old Fable
This initiative flips the classic “boy who cried wolf” tale. In this version, the village never understood what the boy was yelling. And when the wolf finally came, nobody knew what “endpoint intrusion escalation” meant—until it was too late.
