Cyber Sleuths: Technology crime interns turned real-world police
The Notre Dame Police Department is offering a new internship program for students interested in a career in cybercrime investigation. The program, called “Cyber Sleuths,” gives students the opportunity to work alongside experienced detectives on real-world cases.
The interns will learn about a variety of cybercrime investigations, including hacking, phishing, and ransomware all crimes that can be covered by cyber insurance. They will also have the opportunity to work on projects related to digital forensics, malware analysis, and social media investigations.
The program is open to students from all majors and requires no prior experience. Factors for enrollment include; Academic record, extracurricular activities, and interest in cybercrime investigation
The Cyber Sleuths program is an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in a growing field. It is also a chance to make a difference in the fight against cybercrime.
The program will run for 10 weeks during the summer. Students are mentored by a detective who teaches them the ropes of cybercrime investigation. They will also have the opportunity to work on real-world cases, giving them the chance to put their skills to the test.
Here are some additional details about the program:
- The program is open to students who are enrolled in at least their sophomore year at Notre Dame.
- Applications will be accepted until March 1, 2023.
- The selection committee will review applications and select the interns based on their academic record, extracurricular activities, and interest in cybercrime investigation.
- The interns must attend weekly training sessions and work on assigned projects.
- The interns will also be required to complete a final report on their work.
